The characters Fahmi, Subki, Ali, Kyai Arselan, and Nuzula, represent the typical cultural life of santri in Java. Fahmi and his family are sami'na wa atha'na and ta'zhim to the kyai. A touch of romance in the rural setting and typical East Javanese way of socializing, began when Fahmi, - an intelligent village student, hafidz, and student at the 52 Islamic University of Medina - was asked by a village head - who was of course rich - to betrothed to his daughter, which she considers suitable to marry Fahmi.

Facing the Village Head's request, Fahmi and his family felt that they had to discuss it, and Fahmi even had to do istikharah to accept it or not.

When Fahmi's istikharah was not yet complete, Kyai Arselan, a large kiyai in Lumajang, came to Fahmi's house. Kyai Arselan came with his entourage. Fahmi's family immediately "gupyuk", busy preparing everything to welcome Kyai Arselan.

And when Kyai Arselan ordered that his son, N'uzula, betrothed to Fahmi, Fahmi's family could not refuse. Even istikharah is no longer necessary because it is zhahir or very clear, according to them, so there is no need to do istikharah.

Readers of the novel Api Tauhid should not stop here, if they stop here it could result in negative thinking for Kyai Arselan, for N'uzula, and of course for Kang Abik who is packaging the story. Page by page must be read and chapter by chapter must not be missed so that faith is achieved and the story weaves feel beautiful.
