This is the book "al-'Iqd al-Farid min Jawahir al-Asanid" written by the great hadith scholar of the Islamic world as well as the "Musnid Al-Dunya" of his time, namely Shaykh Muhammad Yasîn ibn 'Isa al-Fadanî al-Makkî (known as Shaykh Yasin Padang, 1335-1410 H/ 1917-1990 AD).

Sheikh Yasin Padang was born, raised, had a career and died in Mecca, from two parents who came from the archipelago, specifically from Padang, West Sumatra. Sheikh Yasin Padang is a Saudi Arabian national. His father, Tuan Isa bin Udik, was the first generation to emigrate from Padang to Mecca at the end of the 19th century AD.

Sheikh Yasin Padang was known as a great scholar of the Islamic world in the field of hadith and asanid (sanad) in the second half of the 20th century AD. He taught at the Grand Mosque and became one of the greatest ulama leaders there, as well as teaching Madrasah Dar al-'Ulûm al -Dîniyyah, a leading Islamic religious educational institution in Makkah.

There are many honorary nicknames attached to him, such as "'Ilm al-Dîn" (the lamp of religious knowledge), "al-muhaddits" (professor of hadith), "al-'allamah" (a person whose scientific capacity is above average ), "musnid al-dunya" (the chain of hadith transmission in his time), and others. Therefore, it is not surprising that Sheikh Yasin Padang's students were central scholars from various corners of the Islamic world.

Sheikh Yasin Padang is counted as the last great cleric from the archipelago who had a career in Haramain, because after his death (1990 AD), no other great cleric from the archipelago emerged whose career was brilliant in the Holy Land.

More than a hundred of his works of thought were published, all written in Arabic and examining various fields of Islamic science, starting from the science of tauhid (Islamic theology), fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), ushul fiqh (philosophy of Islamic jurisprudence), balaghah (rhetoric), manthiq ( logic), hadith, and especially in the field of intellectual transmission science or sanad science ('ilm al-asanid wa al-tsabat wa al-ijazah). In the history of Islamic scholarship over a period of 14 centuries, it could be said that Sheikh Yasin Padang was the first person to collect the scientific essays of Islamic scholars throughout the ages and from various corners of the world. Because of this, he was nicknamed "musnid al-dunya".

One of the most important works of Shaykh Yasin Padang in the field of "sanad science" is the book "al-'Iqd al-Farîd min Jawahir al-Asanid". This book brings together a collection of the sanad of Indonesian scholars. In the context of studying the history of Islamic civilization and scholarship in the archipelago, of course this book has a very important and special position, because in this book the intellectual network and genealogy of the archipelago's ulama can be traced and read very clearly and coherently.
