1. Understanding the Qur'an in language

Scholars differ on the meaning of the Qur'an from a language perspective. They differ in opinion whether the Koran in language is a name without a root word or whether the Koran is a musytaq term of a word.

Even the scholars who are of the opinion that the Qur'an is an ism musytaq, they also differ in opinion about the root word from which the name of the Qur'an is taken. In this case the clergy are divided into several groups.

a. First Group

The first group argues that the name of the Qur'an comes from a word which means reading. So in this case the naming of the Qur'an enters the chapter on naming maf'ul with mashdar. This opinion was attributed by As-Suyuthi to Al-Lihyani and others.
